What is TheBrocktonPlan.com?

It is a website that contains the full text of the THE BROCKTON PLAN, a book detailing twenty ways that Brockton can begin the process of remaking itself into a new city.

The purpose of the Brockton Plan is to start a much needed and long overdue discussion about the future of the city.  Urban centers north, west, and south of Boston are chartering new territory with innovations in government, business, and education that can provide their communities a competitive advantage over cities like Brockton. As Brockton faces mounting budget deficits, some communities are deciding how to spend excess revenue.  The Brockton Plan surveys the challenges facing the city and provides suggestions on how to combat these issues by looking at innovations in other communities and uncovering some systemic roadblocks to Brockton’s ability to prosper.

This short book, which has been mailed to nearly 200 Brockton residents and businesses,  does not have all the answers to the city’s problems.  These ideas represent initiatives which attack the heart of Brockton’s perennial problems--crime, economic development, image, and the quality of life for its residents.   The hope is that this book starts a community-wide discussion about the direction of the city and encourages residents and businesses to become engaged in a movement to rebuild Brockton.
